Contemporary health and fitness incorporates bodybuilding concepts. The internet domain specialization and article directories especially, have segmented bodybuilding, health and fitness in three separate categories that are mutually exclusive. Consequently, we have exclusive niches for health, for bodybuilding programs and for fitness training. We fail to conceptualize how health and fitness matters can accrue within a bodybuilding context. The consequences have been adverse and even fatal.

Introducing Bodybuilding Health

Bodybuilding health is a new concept that finds a very stratified society. We are bodybuilders and they are just fitness trainers. The feeling is mutual the other way round. The concept of marrying health and fitness into bodybuilding training is alien to us and even opposed at some quarters. Let us take a brief walk through the history of bodybuilding so that you may appreciate why bodybuilding health is the hybrid engagement that best fits your life.

Muscle Mass Tradition in Bodybuilding

Eugen Sandow, our honored father of the modern bodybuilding as we know it, started the art at around 1880’s. His sole intent was to reconfigure his physique attractively for public display. To him muscles became the ultimate achievement of bodybuilding training. That is the heritage granted us all through the decades up to the moment Dexter Jackson lifted up the 2008 Mr. Olympia trophy, and even today. Through all these years, bodybuilding was never been meant to improve one’s health and quality of life. It was all an addiction to muscle mass, muscle strength, pump and physique dimensions.

When the first-ever grand bodybuilding competition hit the America continent on January 16, 1904 at the New York’s Madison Sq. Garden, Al Treloar won because he was the most masculine and not because he was healthy or because he was leading a good life.

Joe Weider and his brother Ben came into the game to facilitate a more specialized muscle-based bodybuilding training that had nothing to offer the health and fitness of an individual. Theirs was the muscle mass business. Larry Scott, the muscle legend, Sergio Oliva and Serge Nubret were the stars of the 60’s muscle mass decade.

The Total Sacrifice of Health and Physical Fitness

Every bodybuilder worth his or her salt loves the three decades spanning from 1960 to 1990. These were the decades in which bodybuilding became the most noble of all training regimens ever known to man. It gained prestige and prominence across the globe.

Just ask the IFBB. They will tell you a tale of smudging success and infinite returns. But what do you know? These were the decades in which anabolic steroids came into the scene and ruled bodybuilding training. Anabolic steroids became a staple diet not only in bodybuilding but also in others sports. Nevertheless, it was in bodybuilding that it lived as a legit diet until the governments came to the rescue with policy enactments.

We who are conversant with the bodybuilding lore know that these decades saw the rise of unbelievable mass monsters. Name the greatest among them, the indomitable Arnold Schwarzenegger or the peers along him the likes of Lou Ferrigno, Franco Columbu, Dorian Yates and Lee Haney. Do not forget the building of a man, legendary Ronnie Coleman or Paul DeMayo for that matter. These noble men defied all norms, crafted history, set trends, dominated the globe and touched the zenith of bodybuilding glory. However, while looking like gods from the outside, most of these legends were living on anabolics, the amount that would fell an elephant.

Bodybuilding Health Contextualized

The debate here will not be whether they were right or wrong. It is not even, whether anabolic steroids are good or bad. It is about what medical research has authenticated. Bodybuilding on anabolic steroids is buying a ticket to the grave. It is a total disregard of health. The sad thing is that even if anabolic steroids are banned and regulated today, they are the chief aides in modern bodybuilding even now. A cursed inheritance it is, accrued from ages when health and fitness were separated from bodybuilding training.

Every time an individual pursues a bodybuilding program without the sole intent of developing a supremely healthy and fit physique, he or she falls prey to anabolic steroids soon or later, or at least to the abuse of bodybuilding supplements. At the end, a bodybuilding program becomes the path to cancer, to kidney failure, to hypertension, to heart problems, to dysfunctional sexual organs, to skin complications and to a myriad of health complications.

Conclusion

That is why modern bodybuilding emphasizes the hybrid of bodybuilding training with contemporary health and fitness practices. We have learnt from the mistakes of the past and we are determined not to make them again. Our health depends on it, even as we pump iron. To any natural bodybuilding fan, bodybuilding health is the new dimension that marries bodybuilding programs to health and fitness.

Taste some distilled water- that is your baseline. Good distilled water is 'flat' and flavorless- there is NOTHING in it but H2O, and almost non-measureable traces of the pipes, plastic, etc. it passed through. Distilled water is literally 'made' in the factory- all 'personality' is removed by the processing.

'Natural' water picks up flavors from the rocks, minerals, soil types, etc. it passes as it moves on the surface or underground.

Tap water tastes different because it starts as 'natural' water, then picks up tastes from the filtration and processing, pipes, etc.

MOST bottled water in the US is someone's tap water… maybe filtered a bit more. An amount of water that costs less than a penny being sold at over a buck a bottle- sweet scam, huh?

More interestingly, most people in blind taste tests perfer their own tap water to most bottled waters!

    I have a good one,

I know so many women who refuse to use weights as a part of their exercise routine because they think they can "accidentally" over do it and end up looking like Chyna (from pro wrestling)

There is NOTHING accidental about Chynas physique (except the facial hair from the steroids)

Don't diet because it tricks your body into thinking its starving (that's why you loose weight at first), but then your body will store as much fat as it can because it thinks your still starving, What you need is a lifestyle change, follow this and you will lose weight. good luck.

eat healthy, cut out most processed foods (if it comes in a packet don't eat it unless it is health) excess salt, sugar. Snack on fruit (fresh and dried), veggies (carrot celery etc.) nuts (unsalted and raw are the Healthiest) and cheese, salad, yogurt during the day. Cut down on red meat (about 1-2 times a week) eat more white meat (fish, pork, chicken), Fresh veggies not that packaged frozen stuff it has no nutrients (the more variety of color the better). Instead of having 3 big meals a day (DONT SKIP BREAKFAST) try to have 4-5 smaller healthy meals a day (helps your metabolism) and try to avoid having a big dinner and try not to eat after 7pm (this prevents all your food from just sitting in your stomach when you sleep (you body doesn't digest food when you sleep or so im told)). Eat more foods that are high in protein, fiber and a low glycemic index (google it if your not sure) as they will help you feel fuller for longer (thus cuts out any unnecessary snacking). Drink water not soft drink (soda) as it is has about 35gms of sugar per can (sometimes more), don't be fooled by 'diet' soda it may not have any sugar but the artificial sweetener they put in it is just as bad for your body. If you drink coffee try to replace it with tea (don't put sugar in your tea as your trying to cut out excess sugar, instead squeeze some fresh lemon into it (i woldnt put lemon in it if your putting milk in it may taste funny). Doing so will help your body absorbing 4 time more antioxidants). Cut out takeaway and fast food, excess alcohol. Fat in foods is not the enemy as most people think it is, altho excess fat is. excess carbohydrates are the enemy, your body coverts carbohydrates to energy (thus if you eat excess carbohydrates and dont use this energy in your body will store it as fat tissue). Im not saying dont eat that ice cream or Chocy biscuit, just and a small bowl or 2 bikkys instead of 5. The key to success is moderation.

Try to get in at least 30 minutes of exercise a day. If you walk do so at a fast pace this increase your heart rate (thus burning more fat), if you can run or jog do so but dont run everyday, your body needs time to recover. Some people prefer to cycle because its a lot easier on your knees, feet and ankles (whilst running it can put up to 3 times your body weight of pressure on your knees, feet and ankles (if you weigh 60kgs that would be 180kgs of pressure) that why people choose to cycle).
If your serious about loosing weight i would suggest buying a heart rate Monitor ($50-$100 for a basic one), you want your heart rate to sit at 130-145 Beats Per Minute whilst exercising. It will also tell you how many calories you have burned in that session. A more effective and faster way to loose weight is to do H.I.I.T. (high intensity interval training) this is where you get your heart rate up to about 130BPM and keep it at that for about 4 Min's then sprint for 50-70 meters (this will raise your heart rate up to about 160 -180BPM maybe more) then slow down and let your heart rate BPM fall back to 135 hold it there for a few min's then sprint again and so on (if you dont want to get a heart rate monitor wear a watch and jog for 4 Min's run for 30sec run for 4 Min's jog for 30 min and so on). The key to weight loss is you want to burn more energy than you take in (eat).
Remember these things take time so be PATIENT and KEEP MOTIVATED.

I know its a lot to take in at first, but following this will cut out excess calories and you will live healthier, have more energy and loose weight, It will be hard at first because your body will go into shock (you will feel like crap for a few days) as all the toxins leave your body. resist the sugar cravings they usually come mid afternoon or night, but if you cant have a pack of lollies in the cupboard and just eat one or two. this will get rid of the cravings without having to many calories.

    Lift some weights.

Jogging helps cardiovascular endurance and weight lifting can do both cardiovascular and strength which makes it burn more calories but if you want to increase your speed running and jogging in the way to go but if you would like to increase the strength in your legs its weight lifting and the point of interval running and sprints is recovery time which is how fast you recover your breathe after a sprint or something and thats why running is more effective in those areas but weight lifting has its own benefits! I prefer both if your a athlete in a sport like football or rugby

There are as many reasons why people procrastinate and as there are people. I believe some of the more common reasons are:

    1. Bad Food Choices make people Lethargic / Lazy

    2. Societal Training ::Women tend to put everyone else first :: but "self"

    3. Poor time management

    4. Looking for gratification outside of the body – yogis look inward.

    5. Economic Standing :: the working man & woman cannot afford gym membership for the winter months or a private yoga instructor.

    6. Over Commitment :: so many projects to do, people to see, things to do that the simple -> NEEDED things get overlooked.

    7. Lack of Motivation

    8. Depression

    9. Physical Impairments

    10. Because they are not overweight – they never learned the importance of keeping the body moving and fluid.

    Just to name a few.

Yes it makes sense, CEO bonuses in the for profit health insurance industry alone could pay for immunizations for all children preventing a huge cost is hospitalizations. Early detection of high blood pressure reducing the need for kidney transplant. But, cleaning up the environment, air. water, and chemicals could really reduce the cost of medical care. Our healthcare mess is the direct result of what we allow business to do in the name of profit.
