Your statement is one of opinion. It is all relative. Here are some more facts for you.

    Northeast Ahead of the curve

    Higher rates of suicide
    Higher rates of alcoholism
    Higher rates of abortion
Higher rates of STD or VD
    Higher rates of unemployment
    Higher rates of crime

Wow makes me want to move to the northeast

    Higher taxes
    Higher cost of living
    Higher home maintenance cost
    Higher fuel prices

I am packing my bags right now.

Yes the northeast is ahead of the curve on so many things. I think they are moving way too fast for me.

You could improve your online writing skills by reading some poetry. I'm not being smart about this, but what you have written here is prose, not poetry.

Poetry has rhythm and meter, it uses words to express a dimension beyond words, not create a shopping list of attributes.

The one line I like, "my long hair blows with excitement and glee' is made trite by the use of an old fashioned and unlikely word "glee", which appears to have been added simply to rhyme with a word in the next line. That might not be right, but it's what it looks like and it reduces the impact of your poem.

Talk to your tutor about how to structure your poem more successfully, or you could try exercises like haiku, where the idea is to be very strict in using language to create a formally structured poem.

    It's very good practice.

Oh yeah, btw ~ I used to think you are Kris W, but I'm more inclined now to think you're Trevor/Priscilla. It's the use of language.

    Cheers :-)

My gyn brushed my symptoms off until my fibroid was very large. A hysteroscopy was recommended, but a surgical mistake caused peritonitis and I almost died. I learned later from another dr that the uterine lining thins at the area of the fibroid and risk of puncturing the uterus is high. My fibroid was too large to be removed by hysteroscopy and should have been removed through open surgery. I wish I had all the facts before choosing hysteroscopy.

    Chapter One: Nothing to Explain

The news blares on the TV, and for the first time I am actually paying attention.
A man, who has obviously had too much Botox, and his face is in a permanent smile, appears on the screen. Underneath him in a red box with white lettering is his name. (ok try this. a red box with white lettering. His name is Johnson Kil.)
    Johnson Kil
I lean closer, trying to figure out if his eyes are real or glass, they seem soulless, but, they have to be real. ( I Don't think you need this bit tagged on, its good with out it.) The Leader would never put somebody on here that is different, only striking. Obviously the choice of new newscaster was slim ( try limited ), because this guy isn’t exactly easy to look at. The ‘smile’ is hard to look away from; his teeth are so overly white I swear I am starting to lose my vision!
    “I know this guy”
The two voices harmonise perfectly, and I almost speak back, but then I remember.
It’s Sarah and Jeff. ( statement)
    “How?”
I think,( lose this) I see Jeff’s shadow as he pulls out a cigarette, rubbing the pad of his index finger and thumb together, getting a spark.
“Jeez Jeff, those will k–…never mind”
Sarah whispers softly, her shadow flees, disappearing ( think about this sentence) somewhere I can’t find. Jeff takes a drag, blowing out smoke rings, but, then he too, disappears.
    “Very helpful you guys”
I mumble, softly, turning up the TV to hear the reporter.( you need to state that there are 2 reporters because you confused me for a moment)
The reporter is a young woman, average curves, blonde hair, and soulless brown eyes, nothing too special about her.

“Hi Johnson, I’m reporting live about an hour away from the military experiment bases, I have been told that the newest experiment has esca—“
The TV cuts to black, no more information, no more average curvy blonde reporter lady, or Botox man, just the black TV screen.
“Well, what to do with the next thirty minutes of my time…?”
I rely on the news, to fill in that thirty minutes of my life where nothing is happening, no guests to tend to, no dishes to clean, no beds to turn down. I might as well see if mo needs help, I launch myself off the couch, tripping on my own two feet, even though I am wearing jeans, I will either have a carpet burn, or a bruise…maybe both. Oh well, at least it gives me another reason to put off my summer wardrobe for another week or so.

@sabrinacoady: Take a look at the fibroid list on my channel it will also work on PCOS. It wll remain posted for a day or two.

  13. Best Says:

As is common with novice writers, your writing needs to "show, don't tell" (see first link). In your writing, you are summing up the situation and the internal emotional state of characters rather that allowing the character's actions to tell the tale. Your first line is an example: "A dark an eerie overcast lined the room." Have you ever heard anyone say anything like that, even once?

Instead of vague descriptions, start your fiction with an "inciting incident" (see second link) that happens to your protagonist. Your writing doesn't seem to have a protagonist (is it the red-head or someone else in the room?); you need to pick one (unless you want to try to write the whole thing with an omniscient point of view, which is very hard).

Try rewriting your work, following a single character and saying what they do and say and see and hear and smell, rather than describing them.

  14. Crystal Says:

The problem with her is that she doesn't or barely have any flaws and she is good in way too much stuff.
Even though she doesn't believe in perfection, you described her as you can say a perfect character.
If her goal is to be perfect, what does she need to be perfect?
What is she trying to achieve to get perfection? Or even social perfection?
Except the cooking part, she sounds a lot like Hikari from Special A, who was good in almost anything, but always got in second spot.
But Hikari was made more realistic by giving her more flaws and a goal you can relate to, that is what your character seems to be missing.
What saddens me is that you described a lot, but you can't still barely figure out her personality, for example she could be either kuudere, tsundere or yandere wich are entirely different things.

  15. GREAT_AMERICAN Says:

Unfortunately well informed and well presented information like this is lost on the majority of those frequenting yahoo answers. Ignored due to its length. You are right though it is time for Congress to get its act together. It's a shame the very nature of Congress seems to repel those with knowledge, talent and vision.

  16. Cpillin425 Says:

@Cpillin425 she had to go there because she can’t afford medical insurance, and doesn’t qualify for Medi-Cal, the operation here in California would have cost at least $10,000-$15,000, maybe even more, and my parents would have been years into this debt…guess what, problem solved. top notch Mexican doctors, top notch service, top notch clinic, she will be out by monday probably.

  17. ~Cristina~ Says:

Can I be honest? I'll be honest – this reads like the prologue to the book Eragon by Christopher Paolini, except it involves werewolves and not dragons. I suggest not capslocking dialogue – you have italics for that – and you really don't need to keep beating into our heads the fact that this poor woman is beautiful and everything she does is beautiful and lovely and pure.

I *highly* recommend you read more novels and study their writing. Your voice is mundane and unoriginal, and you're telling too much. I would like to feel the suspense as the alpha wolf demands the woman give up the moonstone, so I suggest you describe the atmosphere, the urgency of the situation, and the behaviors of everyone in the scene. Since you seem to be writing in the 3rd person omniscient I think you can get it done.

    Good luck.
